چکیده

Background and Purpose: Liver transplantation is an ultimate therapeutic option for end-stage liver disease. In the context of liver cirrhosis caused by viral hepatitis, it is known that re-infection of the graft occurs frequently and that progression of fibrosis advances more quickly in the transplanted organ [1]. Therefore, a closer follow-up is necessary including frequent biopsies for grading fibrosis. A non-invasive method of detecting and grading fibrosis in liver transplant patients is therefore of particular interest. MR elastography (MRE) allows the non-invasive assessment of liver fibrosis based on the response to oscillatory shear stress [2-4]. External mechanical vibrations are introduced into the body and the resulting shear wave propagation in the liver is imaged by motion-sensitive MR sequences. Up to this point, MRE has not been applied to liver transplant patients for detecting fibrosis. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the potential of MRE in detecting liver fibrosis in transplant patients.

Assessment of hepatic fibrosis by transient elastography in rheumatoid arthritis patients receiving methotrexate

Background and Aim: Methotrexate (MTX) is commonly used in the treatment of diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA) but, its hepatotoxicity potential, always has been a major concern. The aim of this study is to determine the rate of liver fibrosis by transient elastography (TE) method and its relationship with cumulative dose of MTX and duration of treatment, in rheumatoid arthritis patient...

Assessment of transient elastography (FibroScan) for diagnosis of fibrosis in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Background: Transient elastography (TE) is a new modality for the diagnosis of liver fibrosis caused by various etiologies. This study was conducted to determine the accuracy of TE in detecting the different stages of liver fibrosis in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) patients. Methods: MEDLINE/PubMed, Embase, Ovid, Cochrane Library, American College of Physicians (ACP) Journal Club...

Assessment of the Pancreas with MR Elastography

Introduction: The pancreas is a retroperitoneal organ with both exocrine and endocrine functions. Chronic pancreatitis is a progressive and destructive inflammatory process that results in organ fibrosis, induration, duct obstruction, and atrophy with significant loss of exocrine function and diabetes (1). The key histopathological features of chronic pancreatitis, regardless of etiology, are n...

Assessment of diagnostic value of DWI technique in the evaluation of liver fibrosis

Introduction: The liver fibrosis is caused by extracellular accumulation of cluster, glycos amino glycans and proteoglycans, which this extracellular accumulation may limit the penetration and molecular movement of water in the tissue, so the Diffusion weighted imaging(DWI) technique is due to the sensitivity to the movement and release of water molecules Can show this restrict...

Elastography in Chronic Liver Disease: Modalities, Techniques, Limitations, and Future Directions1

Chronic liver disease has multiple causes, many of which are increasing in prevalence. The final common pathway of chronic liver disease is tissue destruction and attempted regeneration, a pathway that triggers fibrosis and eventual cirrhosis. Assessment of fibrosis is important not only for diagnosis but also for management, prognostic evaluation, and follow-up of patients with chronic liver d...
